And So We Weep is a project from Chris Williams, a guitarist who currently resides in Asheville, North Carolina. Having acquired a taste for the noisy and the abrasive while cutting their musical teeth in the underground punk scene, they channeled that interest into the creation of avant-garde music.

In Chris’s words:

"I live close to the wilderness and spend a significant amount of time hiking in the woods. In nature whenever one comes across a scene of destruction it is inevitably accompanied by the creation of something new. A fallen tree will house a colony of fungus in the dying bark, a devoured yellow jacket's nest will feed the bear to live another day. This fascinating cycle of creation and destruction is what I try to explore with this project. I will start a piece with a simple melody or noise and then begin to layer new sounds over top of it. As these layers build, they destroy what came before and create something new. I love the journey of composing improvisationally. You never can be quite sure what the end result will be. Using loop pedals allows me to play off myself and induce a kind of flow state which can be thrilling in and of itself even when a composition may not be coming together exactly as expected."

“A Grave for Invisible Light” is from the album ‘Noise Poems.” All compositions are played live, using several loop pedals, a range of effects and whatever guitar is most convenient when the time comes for sonic explorations.
