Guitarist, improvisor and composer Barry Chabala was born in New Jersey and now calls New Mexico home. He first picked up a guitar at the age of 5 and began a musical journey that has gone many places. The Beatles and the Stones lead to Led Zeppelin. which led to Jethro Tull, Yes and Genesis, which lead to Pat Metheny, Alan Holdsworth and Bill Frisell, which lead to Derek Bailey, which lead to Michael Pisaro which led to….

His goal has always been to blend it ALL into a personal, creative voice.

Barry has presented lectures on improvisation and graphic scores for Bowerbird of Philadelphia, performed and recorded compositions from the Wandelweiser Collective throughout the United States and has recorded and collaborated with the likes of Lance Austin Olsen, Lee Noyes for labels such as Confront, Gravity Wave, Another Timbre, Erstwhile and his own Roeba imprint.

Michael Pierce crafts spontaneous sonic environments using guitar, found objects, modular synthesizers and various electronics. He currently records and performs as sweetearthflying. Built from minute gestures, accidents and microsound, his improvisations explore the timbral complexity latent in mundane objects and instruments, revealing the hidden worlds therein.

"Lofty Heights (Turbulance)" is a collaboration and joint composition of Barry and Michael, from their album “act 1.”
